I was upset about Sams elimination!
I've been a fan both seasons & have never missed an episode.
I also visit Bravos website & have read all the blogs & seen all the bonus videos.
Quite the TC Addict I am!
But you have to put things in perspective.
It is a reality show! That means it is anything BUT real!
Did you know that as a result of somebody taking the "show" WAY too seriously, Marcel was actually hit over the head with a bottle by some irate fan in Las Vegas last week & received 30 stitches?
Trust me, I couldn't stand his annoying ways all season long but IT"S A REALITY SHOW !!!!!!!
It is editted & portrayed MUCH differently than it really was!
To get a better persective, I'm going to give you a link.
The link below will give you actual interviews with each of the contestants as they were eliminated,
Since these interviews are NOT with Bravo......you'll get a MUCH truer idea as to what REALLY happens behind the scenes.
Go & listen to each interview & you'll see what I mean.
http://www.chow.com/stories/10424......
After gaining this perspective, I wouldn't miss the Finale.
I really don't care who wins.......
It's just entertainment!
& It Will Be Entertaining!!!!
Four previously eliminated chefs come back to assist in the Final Episode!
That's Right!!!!!
Sam
Elia
Betty
&
Michael ARE ALL THERE !
How Freaking Entertaining can that be?????????????
I can't wait!
By the way....if you listen real carefully ...to all the interviews ...I think you'll see that Marcel really DID cheat, earlier in the season & got some of his recipes & ingredients (which they were NOT allowed to bring with them) confiscated!
Also that the 'head shaving incident' did NOT happen the way it was portrayed on TV.
& Sam is not upset about his elimination.....It is just a TV show &
"This does not define who you are as a chef" quote from Michael to one of the 'booted' chefs.
So watch the Finale!!!
You know you want to!!!!
LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! It's NOT REAL!

I expected Sam to take the whole caboodle, so yeah, it was a surprise to see him booted. I did expect Ilan to make it to at least the top 4 and so he did, but he found Elia's apron strings weren't wide enough to hide behind--was that pathetic, or what? If Cliff hadn't self-destructed, I would have expected him and Sam to be going at it in the final.
As for the Marcel bashing...no matter how the show is edited, there is precious little there to suggest that he deserves the vitriol that's dished out to him. Watch these episodes carefully, and you'll see that what is said about him does not exactly match what you see from him. He's not a perfect little angel, but most of these contestants proved themselves a pain in the patoot more than once. Marcel wasn't vastly different. The only way Marcel did prove himself different was that he LEARNED from week to week, even from the Quickfire challenge to the Elimination challenge. So many others churned out the same thing over and over...and despite the "foam" criticism, Marcel did not. Marcel was always watching, listening, learning, practicing. From that standpoint, perhaps he absolutely does deserve to be in the finals.
No, I'll tell you what. If I were an employer and any of these beauties came to me looking for a job, I'd have to say, "There's no place for you in my kitchen." I have never seen such pathetic CYA as in the last few episodes, with all blame for all failures directed at Marcel. Sorry, I don't buy it. The maturity level among all contestants was abysmally low. Though he comes off a little self-righteous at times, the only one who was consistently the most mature (not necessarily a great compliment, among this bunch!) was Marcel.
Yep, this is only a "reality" show. But I wouldn't want it on my resume.

I had my money on Sam to win it all and so I was shocked when the final two were announced and Sam had to pack his knives and go.
At least Sam won the fan favorite. His food always sounded good (except for the watermelon concoction), looked good, was creative and impressed the judges. Didn't he win more Quick Fires than anyone else?
The bigwigs at Bravo decided to keep the drama alive with the Marcel/Ilan 'clash of the chef-tans.' Ilan was a one-hit wonder with his bag of saffron. At least Marcel was cooking outside the box...his food was also extremely creative...the molecular gastronomy--he's a smart kid. Not sure I am too fond of the avocado and bacon ice cream, but I digress...
I'm just thankful that Betty was not in the final.

Honestly? I was shocked. I had anticipated Marcel and Sam in the final. Why? Sam is so.... Harold. Keeps his head down, is consistently good, has leadership skills, etc. He IS a Top Chef.
I expected Marcel to make the final because he is all that Tiffany was last season. All we're lacking is the moment when Dave can come back and say, "I'm not your *****, *****!" Marcel is just as evil as Tiffany was last season.
THAT would have been a good pairing....
But now we've got Ilan and Marcel.... I've always liked Ilan, but after the head-shaving antics, I've kind of lost respect for him. I understand pranks getting out of hand but they were acting like a bunch of high school jocks with too much alcohol in their system.
It'll be interesting to see who wins... I'll be interested to see who, in the end, I root for!

Honestly I think Sam is the better of the four. But, now that it's just ILan and Marcel I think ILan is the better of the two. Marcel is to upity, judgemental and not a team player. I think to work in a kitchen w/so many people you have to know when to bend and he doesn't. He's a lot like the "wine" guy from last season. He didn't win either...and what is it w/the foam on everything....

I thought that Sam was going to be in the final 2 just because he has been very consistent with making great food. I was shocked when they told him to go home. If I was Sam I would have demanded why they voted me off. I guess the good thing about it is that he won the $10,000 viewers favorite chef.

I wanted the final 2 to be Elia/Ilan and Sam. I so did not want Marcel to be there. It completely shocked me that Sam went home. But another thing I don't get is how Ilan got praised for bringing Spanish influence in, and Elia got ripped for Mediterranean. They said she went "too much" in the other direction. But I clearly remember someone saying that Ilan used so much saffron that it could be an Indian dish. It also bugged me that Ilan prodded Elia to talk about Marcel "cheating" and didn't bother backing her up, so she looked pathetic. I so can't stand Marcel!

I agree with you. Maybe he'll be the next "Clay Aiken". Meaning, Ruben Studdard won, but Clay is making more of a name for himself. The public really loved Sam. I wish him all the luck in the world. I wouldn't be surprised it he has his own show in the future.

You know, everybody liked him the best. However, none of us tasted his food. He was more mature than the others and that is why people liked him more. I'm sure that he's going to be just fine career wise.
