For an animal cell, the outer surface is known as a cell membrane. This is a flexible structure. In a plant cell, the outerstructure is a cell wall. On the contrary, the cell wall is not flexible. Therefore, a flexible outer surface would be a cell membrane.

If its flexible its the cell membrane. Only plants have cell walls which surround their own cell membranes, and the wall is rigid.

U MUST TELL WHAT TYPE OF CELL IT IS
IF IT IS A NORMAL ANIMAL CELL , THEN IT IS PLASMA MEMBRANE OR CELL MEMBRANE
IF IT IS PLANT CELL , THEN IT IS CELL WALL
IF IT IS A CELL DIFFERENT FROM NORMAL LIKE THAT OF OVUM , THEN THIS FLEXIBLE LAYER IS OF GLYCOPROTEINS
