We were thinking about getting Pink Ladies Jackets for the girls and T-Bird Jacket for the blokes and I'm gonna have a Rubiks Cube Birthday Cake but I would love some more ideas for maximum nostalgia.

I would really like the blast from past ideas to cover my younger years so from 1977 to mid 1990's maybe. Would just like lots of things that create nostalgia and trigger some childhood memories(my friends & I are all around same age) and a bit of a giggle. Some EXCELLENT suggestions so far though, thanks everyone!

I believe "Baby Come Back" by Player debuted in 1977 and hit #1 in '78. Personally, I cant think of a better way to swing into a 30th birthday party/nostalgic adventure than to crank up one of these classic favorites and reminisce with friends on a great musical era.

music, totally classic hits.
food, whatever came into being then

EXTRA PARTY TIPS:

start out the party with the music softer, so people can talk and mingle, as the night grows late, turn up the volume a little. Provide plenty of room to dance, don't serve the cake last, if you have some friends who are very wild, take car keys at the door.

I orgainise themed parties every year - this is my kind of question!!

How far back are you planning on going - if you don't have a certain timescale in mind, the theme may get a bit lost!

More info please!!
