I'm putting t-shirts on both sides of my quilt. I need a border, and I need 2-3 inches of material between all the t-shirts. I was wondering if anyone out there knew if I should use cotton or some other kind of material. Most of my t-shirts are cotton and we had to put a backing on the t-shirts. That's why I wasn't sure if I should use cotton material or how that works. Any ideas?

Use cotton for the sashing between the t-shirts, 1-1/2" to 2" wide plus seam allowances. If the shirt designs have a dominant color, try to pick up the color in the sashing and border. The sashing and border can be the same fabric, but don't have to be.

Backing the t-shirts was a good move to keep them from stretching and the quilt from sagging. I used fusible interfacing to line the shirts when I made this kind of quilt.

use cotton material and if it's jerseys or somthing then you should probably cut it and put your number that was on the back of the jersey on the back of your quilt and maybe if you are doing jerseys you can get a sports border and if not i can't help you with that
