well if you where given the equation to find 105 it would have been 194 times the percent in a decimal form which we will call X
so then you get the equation 194X= 105. To find out what X equals divide both sides by 194. X equals 0.54124 but remember that this is in decimal form so multiply by 100 to get the %.

Remember that 'percent' means "out of 100" -- thus, the percent is something-over-100 (written as a fraction).
You're looking for what's equal to yada, yada.
So you put two fractions as being equal, fraction1 = fraction2.
One of the pieces of one of the fractions is unknown (the thing you're trying to calculate).
So you have a fraction equal to another fraction, with a letter (say, x) representing the unknown thing.
Isolate the x to solve.
When you have a equivalence, you can do any operation you want, as long as you do it to both sides of the equation, both sides of the equal sign.
So you multiply and divide -- to both sides of the equation -- to make it so the x is alone, on one side of the equals sign.
So, you set the thing up (with an x for the thing you're trying to find out), and multiply/divide -- whatever you need to do to get the unknown by itself.
To check, remember what percent means (and to estimate percents, before you start).
For example, 50% is half. (25 a quarter, 33 & 1/3 is a third, etc. -- to see what the ballpark is).
105 is less than half of 194, so your answer needs to be less than 50%, for example. But kinda close to 50%, it's not like a quarter of it, for instance.
So, the ratio 105/194 = x/100.
If you multiply both sides by 100/1, you get the x by itself.
Then do the calculations.
(105 * 100) divided by 194 = x percent.
When you really GET what percents are about, you don't need to remember a bunch of formulas for each situation (each kind of unknown), but can reason it out from scratch.

Divide 105 by 194 to get the decimal equivalent
105 / 194 = 0.541237113
Multiply the decimal by 100 and attach the % sign
0.541237113 x 100 = 54.12371134 %
54.12% rounded to two decimal places
105 is 54.12% of 194
