I am 14 weeks pregnant and will soon be far enough along to find out the sex. We have a choice of finding out through a 3D or the regular 2D. I do not want to go in there and them say "well, I can't really tell....." so I was wondering if you know if 3D is more easily read to determine the sex of the baby. Any other info/opinions are welcome.

well the best time to tell what you are having is between 20-22 weeks. Although they can guess at 16 weeks it is not that accurate. The gentals are still a little swollen and hard to tell at that point, it is best to wait a little long. The 2d scans showed that I was having a boy a little more clearer than the 3d. The 3d the baby has to be facing a certain way to be able to fully see, making the 2d a little bit easier to see. Personally I have had both done. I would use the 2d first. Then when you get further along see about a 3d. But the good thing about 3d is you get to see what your baby looks like. You get to see the facial feaatures, it is awesome.

I think it really depends on the person doing the ultrasound with my first 2 I was told oh we can't tell but for my last 3 it's been the same woman and I've had 2 d and 4 d ultrasounds and she has been right everytime she even knows the weight of my babies she is just great at it but I liked the 4d one the best because you can really see your baby's face pretty good.

Oh yes a 3D you could probably tell now. My friend got one and she saw it all she knw for sure it was a boy. Me, I did the 2D I've had 3 and the 3rd the dr could finally see it was a girl. But its crazy cuz I couldn't even tell. So I'd def. go for the 3D if its offered to you. Don't forget to ask if they can make a tape. Those pictures don't last forever. Some dr's will give a tape. But not mine :(.

not sure about the 2d vs 3d thing, but keep in mind that sometimes baby just doesn't "cooperate" sometimes (keeps legs closed) or u just can't get a good angle. just something to think about going in to prepare u...
