Where you didn't pick your running mate for VP.. instead whoever got the SECOND most votes in the election got the VP spot.

hmm i dont know much about this but i do know that abraham lincoln hired the people who ran against him as his cabinet members

I don't think we should go back to the "old" system. Some may argue that it's more "fair" for the second-most voted should be the VP, but just look at it this way- What if a Republican won the election, then the second-most voted was from the Democratic or Green party? This happened in the early late 1700-early 1800's & the government wasn't productive at all, because they just couldn't agree on anything. =/

Sorry but life aint fair. If the people elect a POTUS and VP of one particular party, thats their perogative. Try again in 4 years

I think the early years of our government taught us that system wasn't the best. Our government already instills animosity through the party system. It would be dangerous, further, to create a direct competition between the president and the vice president; even though, it would be kind of fun to watch.

No - but I certainly think dems & reps should not be physically separated on the floor of the house or senate....treat them like school children, 1 dem, 1 rep, 1 dem & so on...
