After teaching computers for 6 years and our class focus was on resumes and employment at the end of the school year, I will say 30 WPM for anybody that must use a computer at work and 60 or more WPM if you sit at a front desk for a boss. Computer programing may require as much as 100+ WPM. Yes 39 WPM would be acceptable for general computer work. A heads up,do not be surprised if you are required to take a typing test.

Depends on your job. Most employers like in the 60 to 70 range. 39 is not that good. You need to practice.

Sixty words per minute is the acceptable level. 300 wpm is not uncommon.

50-55 is acceptable these days. employers seem more concerned with your skill on the different programs these days. i type 82 wpm -- on a good day.

if you make sure your spreadsheet, powerpoint and word processing skills are up to par, you should be okay.
