Nellie has grown up to be a nice person....really! Hard to believe isn't it? She is an advocate for legislation to protect children from molestation as she was a victim herself.

She became a comic and did stand up for awhile. I don't think she's acting anymore. Still does comedy for benefits and such. She also became an aids activist after the guy who played her husband on LHOTP died from the disease.

1) Alison was recently interviewed for a program called "TV Land Myths and Legends". The half-hour program will begin airing on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 10:00 PM (Eastern & Pacific), and will run for six weeks, on the TV Land cable network. From their publicist: "TV Land Myths & Legends went behind the scenes to investigate mysteries such as -- who was Carly Simon thinking about when she penned the classic song, "You're So Vain"? Was Walt Disney cryogenically frozen? Did "Superman" George Reeves really commit suicide by leaping from a tall building? Is Gilligan's Island actually a metaphor for hell? "

Alison appears in the program on January 10th and February 14th. Please pass along the air date and don't forget to tune in for a fascinating look at some of the all time great myths and legends!

2) Catahoula is crawling out of the studio just in time to help celebrate the birthdays of Pamela Clay and Alison Arngrim.

What: Pamela Clay's Birthday Party featuring PAMELA CLAY* & CATAHOULA** Live On Stage, with ALISON ARNGRIM*** as Mistress of Ceremonies (FYI: Alison's Birthday's Thurs 1-18-07!!!)

When: WED NITE 1-17-07 (yep - Pamela's actual birthday!) from 8-10:30PM ($7 cover)

Where: MOLLY MALONE's Irish Pub - 575 S. Fairfax - LA CA 90036 (323-935-1577) http://www.mollymalonesla.com/

So, this should be good. We've spent the last year or so working on our second CD, and now it's time to take the stage again. (Where DID I put that guitar?) As far as I can tell from the schedule, (and remember, this is rock n roll, so the schedule is somewhat nebulous!) Catahoula will go on at about 9:30 PM and play one set.

3) Alison will be appearing in "The 12th Annual Hollywood Performance Marathon" at Theatre Of NOTE, 1517 N. Cahuenga Blvd. (just north of Sunset) Hollywood, CA 90028, on Saturday, January 20th. The event goes from 1:00 PM until the wee hours of Sunday morning. Cost is $18 for all-day/night pass. For information call 323-856-8611, or log on to theatreofnote.com. Parking info: Arclight Cinemas (enter on Ivar, just south of Sunset) $3.00 will get you parking for the entire event, just bring your ticket to the NOTE box office and they'll validate.

Let's see, there will be Alison and Kirsten Vangsness (Criminal Minds) as Guest Hostesses. There will be over 60 acts, including: John Fleck, Phranc, Ann Randolph, Jim Turner, Two-Headed Dog, Kate Flannery, Dread daze, The Cupcakes, Glen Mcdougal and his bugle, also tap dancing, sketch comedy, puppet operas, performance art and short films, poetry, jazz and burlesque, and yes, heavy-metal fire juggling. (All acts subject to change) There will be a cool auction, lots of surprises, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches will be available!

Alison will begin her segment around 8:00 pm. (No telling how long she'll talk!) So, that pretty much describes itself! Next:

4) Well, there is no number 4. That's it for January. Oh, we'll be going to see our buddy, bass player Sean McNabb, with Great White at the Key Club on Saturday, January 27, as they kick off their latest tour. (We'll just be in the audience, so check out the band or club's websites for more info.)

Hope to see you at Molly's or one of these locations!!

Thanks,

Alison and Bob

Alison appeared in a new show: Flirting With Morty written by Paula Mitchell Manning October 15th - November 7th, 2006

Alison and crew on stage in "Morty"

Now, you all already know something about Morty, so I'll just cut to the essentials:

The show runs from 10/15/06 through 11/7/06, Sundays at 5:00 PM and Mondays & Tuesdays at 8:00 PM with pre-show entertainment 20 minutes before curtain. At the Acme Comedy Theatre, 135 N. La Brea, Los Angeles, CA. For tickets call 323-525-0202 or go to acmecomedy.com. Tickets are $34.00 ($4.00 off with postcard or advance purchase) For this week only, for Monday & Tuesday nights, there is a 1/2 price deal available. If you come dressed as Morty, you get half off the ticket price. (Check out Morty's look at acmecomedy.com/flirtingwithmorty.htm)

Due to the adult theme all audience members must be over 18. (No exceptions!)

There is a very nice Italian restaurant, Amalfi Ristorante, adjacent to the Acme. They are offering a special "Dinner & Show Package For 2" for only $99.00. For details go to amalfiristorante.com, or the Acme web address above.

So, what else? Let's see. . . . oh yeah, the Lottery. On Saturday, November 4th, watch The Big Spin. Alison is presenting an award to a volunteer who works with children. ( I told you she's everywhere!)

Next stop, Seattle. Or the Seattle area anyway. Alison is performing her one-woman show "Confessions Of A Prairie *****", at a benefit at the Central Washington University in Ellensberg, Washington, 98926. (How should I know, mapquest it yourself!) Check it out at cwu.edu/~diversity/. Her performance is at the student union and will benefit the Central Washington University Diversity Center Gay & Lesbian Programs.

Then to Vancouver for a few days to visit her father, then back home. The next adventure is in February, when she'll be doing the French version of Confessions at Le Temple Theatre in Paris for 10 nights. And, coincidentally, the French film she was in, "Le Deal", directed by Jean Pierre Mocky, will premier while she's there.

So, you see, she is everywhere, n'est ce pas?

Okay, then, I'll see you at one of the performances of Flirting With Morty. Well, at least at intermission and after the show. I've seen the show so many times that they finally decided to put me to work! Seriously, it's an outstanding performance, and for the sensitive ones among us, packets of kleenex are available in the lobby.

-- Bob Schoonover

Alison ties for TV Land Award with Danielle Spencer the 'bad girls' steals the show in unscripted improv moment.

From David Kronke's article about the event:
"...Like their spiritual cousins the MTV Movie Awards, the TV Land Awards are pretty much given to whoever agrees to show up and, as such, are played mainly for laughs, with jokey categories such as Character Most Desperately in Need of a Timeout. That one was declared a tie, between Alison Arngrim, who played bratty Nellie Oleson on "Little House on the Prairie," and Danielle Spencer, who played petulant Dee Thomas on "What's Happening!!"

"You hate me! You really, really hate me!" exulted Arngrim, before she and Spencer contentiously argued over which character was worse, pretty much proving they deserved the award..."

From Alison:
"...Do they quote Quentin Tarantino? Robert Downey Jr.? Hilary Swank? Mary Tyler Moore?

No. They all spoke, but look who gets the big quote!

Yup, this was about the size of it.) They also don't mention the totally killer food, drink and gift bag loot. The live onstage performances by Sid Caesar, Diana Ross and Jose Feliciano were worth the trip alone.

Oh and Danielle and I were NOT scripted. We were totally improv with one five minute rehearsal. We came up with all our lines ourselves. Cause we're funny. So there!"

Alison was recently in Washington to work for passage of the child protection laws including CARE Act of 2005. Here are some pics from the trip.

"Pass our bill or I'll go "NELLIE" on ya!"

Ask YOUR U.S. Representative to Co-Sponsor the CARE Act of 2005! (HR 3582) It's time to make protection in the home a right for every American child! U.S. Representatives Bob Ney (R-OH) and Al Green (D-TX) have re-introduced the CARE Act, the bill that started our Circle of Trust campaign. This bill would give children in every state protection from sexual abuse in the home. The last time the CARE Act was introduced in Congress, it was killed in committee, forcing PROTECT to fight state by state to win children's civil rights. This time, you can change the outcome!
