To the person above no my friend you are the disgrace. By the person above I meant mj not the person directly above haha sorry.

What do you mean believe in evolution? I mean it's mostly fact it can be proven looking at the fossil record. Or studying microbiology and seeing how organisms adapt so easily. And also you can see it in some modern animals. Like the dolphin is a mammal because it's ancestor once walked on land but migrated back into the ocean. When the dolphin fetus is in the womb it starts to grow legs. But then the legs slowly contract back. The same kind of things happens to alot of different fetuses when inside the womb. The only people that say evolution is a lie are theists. Are only trying to defend there precious little bible's. Evolution doesn’t have to conflict with that there are many religious people that believe in evolution and are religious. You just have to except that the Old Testament isn't really literal truth. And I don’t really like to say anything against creationism cause even if its wrong doesn’t make the opposing theory anymore true but I mean come on. If that’s the only reason you don’t believe in evolution take a long hard look at creationism.

Electra none of your points are valid and our mostly nonsense. So dinosaurs our alive today?

The evidence for evolution makes sense to me. I feel that organisms must adapt to their environment in order to survive. There is no reason people cannot believe in evolution and religion too. If you read the book of genesis it pretty much outlines evolution. God made the seas...from the seas came...

Believing that highly intelligent organisms, such as humans, just showed up one day or came from Adam and Eve seems rather naive. If we all came from two people we would be inbred idiots! It is quite possible that the Bible was written symbolically and should not be taken literally.

DNA evidence, fossil records, and adaptations among the same species are all examples that back the theory or evolution. Is it really that hard to believe that we share a common ancestor with other apes?

Evolution is a prevailing theory because the evidence gathered supports it. Ultamitely, it is only a theory and new evidence could create a need for a more compete theory. However, it is very unlikely that enough new evidence would overturn the basis of evolutionary theory completely. Specific details are bound to change as our knowledge changes, but the basis of evolution is supported by so much evidence that it is unlikely our growth in knowledge would ever supplant the theory completely. To beleive in the bible as scientific fact is childish. Why not choose other spiritual books such as the koran. On that note, evolution does not discount the importance of religion or mankind, it simply states a process by which life adapts and changes. In fact, evolution may one day point to the need for a creator of life. However, currently, we do not know enough to claim on way or the other.

Of course I do, it's the only option out there that makes any sense at all. It is a theory, which is the highest state a scientific hypothosis can be elevated to. There is mounds of evidence for evolution, and more is compiled every year. There is evidence of constant evolution, just look at viruses. You wonder why we get colds every year, and yet, you deny that the same germs keep going around and just change their DNA to get past our immune systems! Anybody who denies that evolution is a great idea and that there are only a few common ancestors is just denying truth and shutting out all the things that unite everybody to everybody else.

Yes, I believe biological evolution is a fact.
There is a mountainous amount of evidence from convergent sources of inquiry which I am well read in:
Comparative Anatomy
Paleontology
Ecology
Biogeography
Developmental Biology
Population Genetics
Immunology
Molecular Genetics (most scientists consider the most recent work in molecular genetics to be the ultimate forensic proof of evolution).

And of course, common sense: characteristics are inherited, errors in nucleobase transcription happens, organisms that have traits that provide for more success in surviving and reproducing will pass on their genetic information to a greater degree. So mathematically it is logical, evolution must occur.

As always, the critters that have the most surviving babies are better represented in the next generation. Furrier mice are more likely to survive a cold winter. After many cold winters, the population of mice is substantially furrier. This simple process of selection is part of the history of every species.

I'm not sure why people are so offended by the thought. I think it's kinda neat.

God gave us a cause and effect universe, and well, it works.

I personally believe in evolution. If evolution didn't exist, we or any other species would not be able to adapt to our planet as it changes. Evolution can be seen even right now. The fact that mutations in DNA happen all the time proves that evolution happens.
The theory of evolution, however is different. Believing that humans came from apes, I'm not positive on... but it presents a strong case if you've done your reading.

Also I would like to reply to a previous poster who said "Vestigial organs, according to Darwin, are organs that loose their function over time. So if animals and plants have vestigial organs, there would be NO life on Earh!!!"
This is simply a misunderstanding of the person. When Darwin said that he meant organs inside a being. There are people that die daily because their hearts are old, and wear out. People die from kidney failure, liver failure... all kinds of organ failure. Organs do wear out as they get old. I dont see how you could say that there would be no life on earth if we had organs that lost function over time. I'm pretty sure you must have misinterpreted the exerpt you read. Because this happens, and most anybody would agree with me that many older people die from organ failure because they do wear out.

Anyways, I believe in evolution because basically our DNA has many ways it can mutant during crossing over, and reproduction. People as individuals do not experience evolution, but populations, however, do. If evolution did not exist, then we would not be able to adapt to slow changes on our planet. We would simply die off because we wouldn't be able to adapt. Things evolve as a species to survive. I dont think that certain species evolving to blend in with their surroundings (camouflage) happened by accident. It's called survival of the fittest, and whomever is most adapted to their environment will reproduce and therefore, their gene mutation will be passed down to their offspring.

The story of Adam and Eve is true. Our existence is not haphazard--it was planned by our Supreme Creator. Sure, we evolve. We change over time, as do all living things. But we did not come from monkeys. To believe that is to demean who we are and our divine potentials. We are children of God, not evolution.
All I have to do is look around me at all the beauty there is, and I know that God created all of it to make us happy. It wasn't from some huge explosion. It wasn't an accident. I have faith, and that is how I know. God created vast solar systems and to do that He knows a lot more science then anyone on this earth, so I choose to believe His word over any scientists.

It's not a question of belief. Its a fact. You might as well ask if people believe in gravity.

You either understand it and accept it or reject the reality because of delusional religious beliefs.

Take a look at http://www.stephenjaygould.org/library/gould_fact-and-theory.html that answers the whole 'just a theory' argument.

Oh Lordy, I hope you can see that the arguments put forth by that Evangeline woman are ridiculous and false even by their own logic.

If I asked you to believe in something(anything really) that is supported and proven by the vast majority of scientists in the world.....would you take their word for whatever it is I'm asking you to believe in? OR if I asked you to believe something(anything really) that was supported by non scientists who also believe that all things come from and are controlled by "an invisible man who lives in the sky" would you take their world for it? If so why?

Superstitious people have been ridiculed since time began........however if you get enough superstitious people together and name their superstition "Religion" it seems to make it believable for some reason.

Well I believe they have the right to their superstition unless they impose it on me - then I get angry.Through a direct mission to convert me or by influencing government!
It is just superstition! You don't run the government of a country based on SUPERSTITIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
