well yes anything can be overweight but Iggys usually don't get overweight very easily. If you keep them on the correct diet, vegetables and fruits only they shouldn't have many diet problems. If you are feeding crickets mealworms pinkies and such don't this is bad for the iggy. If you enjoy seeing the iggy eat live food then get another reptile that eats live food because it is really bad for the iggy to eat such foods and it messes up the iguanas metabolism and an cause them to be overweight.

Iguanas can get over weight if you bulk feed them. By this I mean feeding them crickets, meal worms and even pinky's ( baby mice) For a long time it was thought that this protein was good for them. Recent studies have shown that the high protein levels inhibit the absorption of essential vitamins...A,D and calcium. Keep him on a strict vegetarian diet, the only protein he should get is tofu and vitamin supplements. Occasional fruit is fine, but no citrus. Good luck! I love my Iguanas and Bearded Dragons.

Not really, but it could have eggs, they don't have to have a male to lay eggs. Or it could have an infection in the lining of it's abdomen which also causes swelling.
