I love my husband to death, but he is a notoriously casual dresser. On a normal basis, I don't really care, but even when we go out, his idea of dressing up is his cleanest jeans and a newer T-shirt under his hoodie. I understand his wanting to be comfortable after spending all day in his uniform, but I would like him to look nice for me once in a while, too. Any suggestions?

I tried buying him some clothes, boy did that backfire! I sent most of them back and the rest he's never worn. I tell him how nice he looks when he dresses up, but that doesn't seem to help. He even has a pair of jeans that make his backside just delicious, and I tell him every time he has them on, but he doesn't even wear those anymore (he has some newer grandpa pants that he wears now) unless I pick them out for him when he's too lazy to find his own clothes. He just looks at me like I'm nuts.

He actually didn't dress like this before, he dressed relatively nice. He used to wear khaki pants regularly, and now he refuses to own them (says they remind him of sand--Iraq vet).

I'm not malicious enough to destroy his existing wardrobe and he seems to be one of those guys that loves me no matter what I wear, so dressing down won't really have much impact unless I go all the way down to stained t-shirt, no bra and cut-off sweat pants, which I am NOT willing to do. LOL.

Well if he was like that before you married then i think you might have to live with it. If he has always been like that most likely he will not change unless HE want to. I would not nag too much either. He could start to resent that. maybe sugest that he not wear the hoodie. And you could buy some really nice T-shirts the ones that are made of nice material or you could try some nice pull over shirts. I am sorry you have this problem my man always dresses nice he always has. But if you have a good marriage then i would let it go because some women would give up a well dressed husband for a one like yours.

Tell him you know he enjoys it when you dress sexy for him and that you'd appreciate if he'd try to be sexy for you too. If that doesn't work next time he takes you out for a nice dinner where an outfit that's sloppy and not flattering- don't put on makeup and don't do your hair. And never buy him clothes. Take him shopping. (never for more then an hour at a time) and Let him pick out something that he's comfortable in and that you also approve of. Tell him that it's something that's important to you.

Too late. You can't change people. This comes under what I'd call "values". Dressing nice is apparently not one of his values, and unfortunately you should have taken this into consideration before marrying him. So, now you now have 2 choices ... either accept his style of dress as who and how he is or continue to be frustrated and let it bother you. :-)

take him shopping with you and then chose clothes together. look at clothes and give him your honest opinion about what you think and then pick up some clothes you like and eventually you will find something you both like and is stylish.

Men respond to sex. Crawl all over him when he wears the nice clothes. It works.

Have you tried dressing down? Wear stuff he doesn't like. Maybe he'll take the hint after a while. You could always cut up the stuff you don't like of his so he doesn't have a choice.
