I'll give you an answer that only covers one model.

I owned a 1990 MX-5 Miata back in 1993. I have been driving for 40 years....and sold over 1000 mostly late model cars in 8 years at a dealership.

The MX-5 was the best car I have ever owned and, among all the vehicles I have driven, was only rivaled by some sports cars that cost more than twice as much. The fit & finish, mechanics, drivability , fuel economy & looks all contributed to my opinion. I figure that any company that can produce such an excellent machine must know something about quality engineering.

That having been said.....the Miata is a small roadster...and makes a great 2nd car. I live a half mile off pavement on the edge of a National
Forest now, and rely on a '91 Jeep Wrangler Renegade and a '00 Subaru Outback. However...if I ever move back to the city...I intend to go with a 4x4 Supercab & an MX-5.

The MX-5 is more fun than a MG-B GT or a Corvette for that matter. And alot more practical.

THAT's why on earth............. :-)

I have owned two Mazdas, a 1992 B2200 pick-up and a 1993 Protoge LS. Both vehicles went over 140,000 miles, both got good gas mileage, both were trouble free and dependable.
I've also worked as a mechanic for over 30 years.
My experience is that Mazda makes a good, safe vehicle that is easy to work on and easy to own.
Mazda makes the excellent 5-speed trans so favored by sport drivers. Mazda cars and trucks always seem to stop in shorter distances then their competitors.
The looks of a Mazda, aside from the Miata, can best be described as bland. But if you like what you see when you are inside rather then outside the car, then a Mazda might be a good choice for you.
