I agree and disagree with drums...
I am shocked that it has taken this long for a black head coach to make it this far in the NFL, but I also think its great to see two best friends be the #1 and #2 coaches to do it.
They are people and great coaches, but it is great for their race and heritage to hold that honor. I don't think it should be taken away that they achieved that.

Well yes it's a big deal that two black coaches are going to the Superbowl. It was said that a black could not lead a team to the Superbowl, I think question has been answer.

No. I understand the historical significance, since it has never happened. However, why can't these guys get the credit they deserve for being head coaches that led their team to the Superbowl, instead of black coaches that led their teams? Not one person in Chicago has ever said that they thought Lovie Smith was incompetent, or that the Bears were screwed and didn't have a chance because they hired a black head coach. I listen to sports talk radio, watch all of the sports shows, and never heard anyone say "We will never make the Superbowl, since no black head coach has ever been there." Any criticism he has gotten was based on his COACHING ability, and that alone. I love the Bears, and thank Lovie for helping to get them there. He is the head coach of my favorite team, and just happens to be black.

yes its its kind of a big deal because its the first time it shows how far the league has come it terms of equality there has been what 40 superbowls and this will be the first time a black coach wins it of course its a big deal. just like it will be when the first black QB wins a SB

but the media does talk about it too much but what do u expect they have nothing better to talk about (Sports wise)

i think they are coaches are like all the others. they had the teams to make it this year and they busted @ss to do so. the media is making way big deal about the race issue, it shouldnt matter. i would understand if the black coaches have been repressed, but they havent been. and it looks like teams are now hiring more black coaches, which is fine as long as it isnt just because it has been a huge issue for the media to talk about. color does not make the coach. go colts!!!!!

First of all, this is the first year for even one african american coach to go to the Super Bowl. So having two in there is historical. So it is a big deal .

I don't think race should be the issue I think their skills as coaches should be the focus. If we are supposed to be considered equal than why is race made such a bid deal over still? I think we should look past the color of skin and look at the important things instead.

No more of a big deal than two black people going to the supermarket.

No and it shouldnt be discussed anymore in my opinion. They should be thought of as great coaches, not as great "black" coaches. Plain and simple...

No. I'm kind of sick hearing about it. Just talk about the overall game not the coaches and what color they are. Jeeze. Talk football not races.
