I think Silence of the Lambs is absolutely awesome, it deals with all ours fears... and the way Hannibal gets into Clarice's mind is so scary because he did it so easily... and its enough to make anyone scared of a Psychiatrist.(hee hee)
Psycho is also such a classic... and was inspired by Ed Gein the serial Killer... it deals with "Mom issues" in a whole new way...
more recent ones include Fight Club, Butterfly effect, 12 Monkeys etc, which deal with an altered sense of reality... a time warp really.
I haven't seen the movie Sybil but I've read the book, and that is also totally fascinating... about mutiple personality disorder.
