This type of democracy here in the US certainly does. The type of capitalism that exists in a social democracy, like we see in western Europe, is much more fair. Employers have more responsibility to provide workers with a decent life, including living wages, benefits, and paid vacation.

And to those who say everyone has a chance if they work hard- why don't you go tell that to the people of Flint Michigan, who believed in that American dream and devoted their lives to working hard at the GM plant, only to have their jobs taken overseas? They now are much older, and have no other skills. They live in extreme poverty and the town has been called the "worst place to live" in America. Actually, you don't have to go to Flint, it's happening all over the country.

No. That idea is totally wrong. Capitalism is the idea that if you work hard, you get paid more. Poor homeless people are 90% of the time drunks.
