Or did it matter to you or not and why? Did someone ever push their mate away because they were scared at first, when you first came out and showed affection in a public place besides a gay establishment?

It is the ultimate test of just how "out" you are. It's difficult because of how visible it is, and also because whatever fears you have are amplified. You're going to piss of ANYONE who has ANY problem with being gay. Just people knowing it doesn't always bother them, but even those people who are "what you do in private" will be pissed, and that's scary. And yes, I've been pushed away around a boyfriend's hometown. That was the least of the issues in that relationship, but still.

i don't really understand what PDA is, but yeah, i had a hard time coming out (who doesn't?) but life is a lot better after doing so. i don't regret coming out at all. and i'm not scared to show people i love someone.

It really didn't matter to us. We aren't ones to make big scenes kissing and holding hands. I'll hug him in public should the time call for such(or he will hug me), but frankly neither of us are the types to go overboard.
