Filter for PCV system of engine. Positive Crankcase Ventilation system.

It's a little filter for the air that goes through a tube into the crankcase and back out through the pcv valve. they just usually plug the air tube into the main air filter box.

It alowws fresh air to flow through to the carb's for a better fuel air mixture. Think of it as a heppa filter for your vaccum.

if your talking about intake valve then your breather gives air to your intake valve.

it does exactly what it says // it allows the engine t breathe freely// and filter the dirt that goes into the intake manifold if dirt gets into motor it wouldnt last very long dirt would get into piston cylinders and valve guides and act just like fast sandpaper and destroy motor very quickly
