Did you teach him how to cut it gut it, take the head off (if necessary). He knows how to use a fire or the stove/oven?
I'm thinking it was wishful thinking on your part. Have him serve you PBS for dinner and a movie one night soon, lol It should work, just hide the sharp knives.
