There is nothing legally or ethically wrong with hiring a friend to work for you as long as he/she is qualified. Just be aware that it could potentially put a lot of strain on the friendship and ruin it quickly.

The manager will always be in a bad spot managing a best friend. It's very possible that it can cause tension or even a falling out in the friendship, so I don't think it's worth it.

no because then if the person has problems like the other workers. the manager then tends to be lighter on the friend therefore, it is a conflict of interest. people who work together who are best friends also tend to talk more and are less productive.

Only if the person is a good workerand knows what he's doing, then go for it. But if the friend is desperate and he is blackmailing their friendship, that is not a friend and that let's you know right there that he/she isn't a good employee.
