How do I qualify for the child tax credit? Do I file as head of household or single in order to qualify?

The Child tax credit is only effective if you owe taxes, your dependent has to be under the age of 17, you should file single with a dependent,(if you are not married)if you make less than about 4,500 dollars, if you make more, then it would be safe for you to file head of household, because you have to be able to show you can support a household! The IRS notices these things!

If your daughter qualifies as your dependent, you file as head of household. You can take the child tax credit if she's under age 17.
