I went to 2 colleges. My AA gpa is a 2.2 but my University Gpa is a 3.5 but I have struggled and had to re do F's to get it.

So I am wondering as to my chances of getting into law school.

CAN I GET IN?

Is it easier as a black female to be accepted?

Y would it be easier for you. If you have that way of thinking then you shouldn't even apply.

Yes, it's easier, because law schools want to show prospective applicants that a certain percentage of their student body comes from a diverse background, and that percentage exceeds the percentage of the applicant pool that actually is diverse (leading to a higher acceptance rate with lower objective numbers -- GPA and LSAT).

You should still study your butt off for the LSAT, because it's the single factor that is consistent across an entire applicant pool.

Most or all of the law schools I applied to offered an option of writing a diversity statement, so make sure you also do a good job on that, talk about how your upbringing and race has affected who you are and what you want to do with your life. Socioeconomic diversity also counts for most schools, so if you've had hardships in that respect, and especially if that affected your grades, be sure to address that. But don't do anything I described in this paragraph with a negative tone. Don't complain about your circumstances. Always focus on the positive things you've done despite other factors that could have held you back.

The fact that you've raised your GPA so significantly will help a lot. If I were you, I would write an addendum (separate from your personal statement) very briefly describing why your AA GPA is so low and emphasizing that the 3.5 is a better indicator of your abilities.

Good luck!

Yes, you can get in.

Yes, it's easier for a black female. Not going to get into whether that's right or wrong.

damn shame....

you're expecting affirmative action to hand it to you, aren't you??

*sigh*

just try to get in with good grades, good LSAT scores and good recommendations like everyone else.

you're the reason people want to throw AA out the window.
