I think it's neither. It's just who they are. They don't choose or ask to be gay, and how could a person be "born" gay?

People are born that way. They don't choose. It's the same way people are straight. Do they choose to be straight? No. The same thing applies for homosexuals.

they dont BECOME gay, it is in your genes. it probably just takes a while for them to know, because they arent the "norm" so it takes them longer to discover themselves. hey, some people go through life inside the closet because they are too scared to come out
