How did you start loving soccer/football?

Just curious as to why you love soccer and why you picked the teams and players that you support?

...having an athletic Dad made me love team sports. As a kid i started playing soccer with kids on my street during the summer, then i got on the school team when i was 8 yrs old and the rest is a long story

Well I've been playing soccer for the past twelve years and i've always loved the sport, but always when the world cup comes around I have to say my passion for the sport becomes even larger! As for what teams are my favorite, I ABSOLUTELY love Bayern Munich, my grandmother is from a town two hours away from Munich, and I've always been interested in the team. Among other teams I love are Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Juventus, FC Barcelona, Inter,Werder Bremen. Players would have to be Philipp Lahm, Lukas Podolski, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Christoph Metzelder, Oliver Kahn, Michael Ballack, Miroslav Klose, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Roy Makaay, Wayne Rooney, Thierry Henry, Patrick Viera, Nuno Gnomes and many more!!! My favorite national team would have to be GERMANY! As I already said my grandmother is from there and that is who I always have watched, the 2006 world cup team, though, has got to be my favorite combination of player to date, so far!

Lemme try to recall... I was just three at the time of 1994 World Cup. I hardly remember any games that summer, but I remember a few. It started cuz my dad and uncles would start watching the games, but then got bored and told me they would sleep so I had to watch the games and pay attention to tell them what happened. But what can a 3 year old remember? I remember more games from 2002 and 2006, not so many from 1998 either. But yeah, I started watching games that way and soon hooked myself to footy! At first I didn't support any team. It was actually until the 2002 World Cup I started with Germany cuz I somehow felt some connection with that team... and the players just caught my eyes!

I start loving soccer ever since I started playing at the age of five.
The reason why I picked France as my favorite team is because I am sick and tired of people saying Brazil,Germany,Italy,etc are the best team in the world.Nobody believe me when I said France was going to be in the final of 2006 world cup.My favorite player is Zidane because he's from the middle eastern.

I started to love soccer in '82. After Italy won the world cup. That was all I cared about. We used to play soccer (boys and girls together) on concrete everyday (my grade school didn't have grass). My father bought me an authentic leather FIFA soccer ball (I'll never forget it it was white and red). We played everyday snow, rain, in the heat-it didn't matter. There were so many Italians in my neighbourhood and we were so proud. Of course because my parents were Juventini I naturally became a fan. I didn't have a favorite player per se. If you ask me now I can give you a long list of players I admire.
Anyway, that's that.

from the moment i started watching the first FIFA World Cup in 1990, i have started to like football although i'm not a soccer player.

my favourite teams & player are Liverpool & Steven Gerrard MBE coz the club has a rich history, success & many great players have played for the club such as Ian Rush & Kenny Dalglish.

Steven Gerrard MBE or better known as Stevie G is one of the best club captain & one of the best midfielder in the world.

I really don't know how I got into it...I know once I tried to watch an MLS match, but I just couldn't. Eventually though, after I learned mroe about the game and stuff, I really started to like it and now I can sit and watch a whole match and love every minute of it! It's the best game around, very exciting.

My favorite team is Liverpool and my favorite players are Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard.

As for why Liverpool is my favorite team...I really don't remember. I think it had a lot to do with Liverpool being the team Gerrard plays for and the former team of Owen. And so, I think I just chose Liverpool because of them. And I think also because of Harry Kewell, because I liked him with the Socceroos.

For my favorite players...Michael Owen was the first player I paid attention to when I got into soccer. Then I like Gerrard because I think he's fantastic.

Started playing as a child. I loved watching and playing.

I stopped when I was in my high school years but have become fanatical since my own kids have started playing.

I support 3 teams:
1) Australia (I'm an aussie)
2) Italy (my heritage is Italian) and
3) Juventus (best cup team in the world, my father is a Juve nut and I love their playing style).

I've only started getting into soccer/football since the world cup, and the reason is because its a beautiful game, The players are so amazing and have so much talent, and so much energy and passion goes into it. My favorite team is Inter because they're awesome and they're practically unstoppable this season =)
