if i burn a dvd for myself is that piracy or its piracy if i sell it and the same for a cd and isit illegal to download from limwire and put it onto disk for your own use

If you don't own the original DVD, it's illegal for you to own a "backup" copy of that DVD.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. The government is after distributors more than people looking to increase their own personal collection. It's illegal, but the government has bigger fish to fry. Just don't start distributing your illegal copies.

It's illegal to download music without paying for it and without the permission of whoever owns the copyright.

The gubment has gone after hotbeds of illegal downloading; I used to work at UC Berkeley, and students there got busted (they get to use the university's T1 lines, so it's easy to download LOTS of music).

well it is illegal to download it first of all because the movie or song writer is not getting paid for his or hers work and to sell it is even more illegal with higer consequences

Yes, because my sister downloads free music, and its totally illegal. so yeah.
