In the states, the spoiled Americans, even the unemployed ones, will pass up low-paying jobs because they think they're better than the jobs available. Then the immigrants come in, legally or not, and are willing to work those low-paying jobs and then there are actually fewer options for the citizens.

the problem here is that people are afraid that with more people immigrating they are taking up more jobs and not leaving enough for the american citizens. thus creating an unemployment situation

Generally in UK if you dont have a stay visa you are not elligible to work so an immigrant must possess a stay or two years visa before working permit can be granted.
