Does the environment around you change the way you treat people?

If there are lot of 'mean' people in your company, class, peer group...etc, will it affect the way you handle things?
If you're in a very friendly environment, will you become friendly as well?
Or, the environment won't matter to you at all?

Sometimes it does affect my mood which affects how I act towards people.

a friendly environment is the best, that's why I loved my job.
