* I quit when they reached 50 cents a pack, but started up again 15 years later when they were 175 a pack and the generic brands were a buck, but quit again and have not smoked for 16 years 6 months.*

The Clinton Administration uncovered documented evidence that cigarette companies deliberately add addictive chemicals to their tobacco products in order to create a chemically dependant consumer base. As the "powers that be" got wind of Washington's discovery, the documents were "accidentally" destroyed (fed into paper shredders.)
Smokers DO care about the price of cigarettes...but like all addicts are driven by an addiction which supercedes common sense and fiscally sound purchasing.
It's just better not to get started in the first place.

I care but it hasn't stopped me yet since I'm addicted. I used to swear that if the price of cigarettes went over $3 in my city than I would quit. I thought that was outrageous. Now I'm buying one of the cheaper brands here and they are $5.30. The ones I used to smoke are $7 or more. Of course, now I'm saying that if they reach $8 or $10 that I'll quit. Hopefully, I'll be inspired to quit for health reasons before then!!

Why not ask if heroin users care about jail terms or the price of junk. It is an addictive drug that idiots like Rob Reiner pass laws to tax the poor uneducated addicts. Most smokers would like to quit but can't. Stealing money from the working poor who are hopelessly addicted to their drug is criminal. They should put 100% of the taxes on tobacco u=into health care for cancer patients and quit finding ways tax the poor.

No!!!! We work for our money and can spend it anyway we want. You buy gas no matter how high it goes. The air is polluted from a lot of cars! Alcohol how much are you willing to pay for it? It kills! Drunk drivers kill people every day, it destroys the liver. Don't tell us you do not spend money on things you do not need!!! Do not mean to sound rude but I am so tired of the taxes being raised on them and not alcohol. All of our rights being taken away and the way some people think they are better than you. Like they never do anything wrong. Like to see the skeletons in their closets!!!!!

In Canada a pack runs about 9 bucks. I know people that spend more than that at the coffee shop each day! This just keeps the black market moving, sad to say.

no, but I would if I didn't live so close to Wisconsin. If I buy them in Michigan, it's $5.50 a pack and 10 miles down the road is Wisconsin and they are $3.15 a pack. So Our dumb a** governor Granholm can tax all she wants for cigarettes.

Nope. They're too addicted. But maybe if a pack a cigarettes reaches up to like $10 then maybe they'll think and try going for the addiction killers instead.
