...do you have to get their attention first (like call their name, maybe more than once), and then continue. How many of you live with that, and how do you work past the feeling that you are being ignored.

Well, it's is something that is very normal in relationships I have been married for almost 4 years and i will usually wait until a commercial or if it is really important i will go over and get hi attention before i ask him. It does get frustrating but I got used to it. (I do the same thing) my husband will ask a question, or tell me something and it's like he never said a word. i don't thing it gets better either! good luck and i hope that you don't hold this to the other person I believe that almost every one does this at some point and time!

My husband is usually in the middle of concentration with the movie and has the volume blasting, so I either wait for the commercial break or tell him to turn it down. If he is in a good mood then he will listen to what I say but if it has been a bad day he will just continue until I tap him on his shoulder or he will take a few minutes before he gets back to me. I don't mind, its just the need to have patience with him. I hardly ever get mad with him.

You are being ignored. I hate it when people talk while I'm trying to watch a movie or tv show. My guy does it all the time and its so annoying...I wind up putting my hand over his mouth.
Be respectful to your SO and wait for a commercial.

Hi GoodGuy53! I hope you got my "Thank-you" on that other question you answered. I really like this question because it begs another question "Who is more important, the TV or me?"
But, for the record. I haven't owned a TV for the past 8-10 years. Really. If my guy needs my attention, he's got it. But, I will say the computer is another story indeed...........hehehe. Take Care, and "Thank-You" again.

YES! Seems they are so engrossed with what's on the tube. I have had to resort to turning off the TV to get my question answered! It is VERY frustrating to say the least.
I always felt like whatever I had to say was not worth his attention. It caused many problems!
I would sit down and have a heart to heart talk with your significant other and let them know how it makes you feel.

its totally normal. i have to ask my husband the same question over and over again when he is watching tv. it doesnt mean he is ignoring me on purpose he is just paying close attention to the show. lol we laugh about it afterwards when i tell him how many times i had to say something. it doesnt bother me. just wait for a commercial.

I wait till a comercial to talk to my hubby , since I can't stand it when someone starts talking during a good show. But then again haven't had cable or anything since the summer when he left for the military.

Ok Wait for a Commercial :) I know if I ask my man during a show he isn't listening. Same goes for me when I watch a show I am into.

HECK THAT IS NORMAL FOR MOST PEOPLE. BOTH MALE AND FEMALE. DON'T ASK A QUESTION WHILE THEY ARE INVOLVED WITH TV. I DO IT GROCERY SHOPPING, ON THE COMPUTER OR WHEN ORDERING. I JUST TELL EVERYONE TO WAITE A SECOND, IT'S CALLED BEING FOCUSED!

I dont have to deal with that, but if I had too, I'd get right in front of them and the tv. Make yourself seen, not just heard!
