I havea Potterton EP3002 boiler which is failing intermittently . The hot water part is ok but th C.H. is very unreliable, I have to keep re-igniting the pilot as when it all fires up for the Ch everything goes out.The coupler has been replaced.
If I need a new boiler and I expect I will be told I do, what type do I need and how much. Detatched, insulated house. 4Bed. Dble Glazed.10 Radiators.

The EP3002 is actually a programmer/time clock. Not a boiler. please re check your boiler details. If it is the programmer then get a new one. They are easily interchangeable. P.S. will come back later to see what you say ok.

People please stop confusing the poor woman! As regards to another poster here who mentions dont get a combi. Dont know what he on about as thats all there is now and by law they have to be condensing too. (EU Regs')

I have a 'Vaillant EcoMax 828' It is really great, it hardly makes a sound. It Currently runs 8 radiators but has capacity for more I believe. Don't use Glow Worm boilers - nothing but trouble!

If you have to replace the boiler (and not the programmer??!!??) I would recommend that you go for a Baxi or a Vaillant condensing type, you will probably need one in the 80-100,000 Btu range, but it should be calulated correctly by a heating engineer, based on the building heat loss, and sizes of existing rads.

Ring your local plumbing supplies and get some prices. Then with that info go to BQ or other large store and get a price,Then ask around for a price to fit this boiler. Its not rocket science most modern boilers will accommodate you.

You have to look at the BTU/HRS rating. Usually in the 200,000 range, on your present boiler. Then choose from the ''best'' or respected names in the boiler industry. You won't be disappointed.
