Despite the murder of Denis Donaldson last year, tony blair felt that this minor hiccup was not enough to hold firm against surrender to the IRA.
The obvious and convenient split from the IRA, the "real IRA" ,a suitable device to continue the terror campaing at the same time as the political farce of Gerry adams and murderer martin mcguiness.
Blairs "peace " at any cost ,you may consider noble.Unfortunately, the cost is to those British citizens of Ulster, who in reforendum ,overwhelmingly supported continued british governance.
Worse still, the message is clear, terrorism works.Murder and bomb your way to the negotiating table and then settle for a peaceful resolve in your favour.
Im so sorry for the innocents and british soldiers and policemen ,tortured and murdered by the IRA.To think it was all in vain.Shame tony Blair, shame.

I have to agree with Dave O, you don't appear to see the full picture. I can understand your patriotic view but I don't ever remember a referendum in Northern Ireland to decide whether the province should continue to be ruled by the British Government and I would urge you to read the Nuala O' Loan article Dave O referred to in his answer.
For many years British forces have been suspected of collusion with loyalist terrorists and the aforementioned article makes disturbing, rather than interesting reading indeed.
I too as an Irish citizen cannot condone the violence that either side has been subjected to over the years but let's not be negative about what is positive progress.
You use the term "surrender" to the IRA when all sides have compromised to reach the present point.
Whenever and wherever there is conflict in the world the only resolve is compromise because as we have seen with current situations, unless all sides are prepared to talk the killing continues.
So try to be a little more positive and get rid of that picture.... it's disgusting and shows you as a bigot.

You're right in everything you've written about this sewer over here, but please drop the swastika. Would stick in my craw to ever agree with a Nazi.
John H - Agreed 100% with your opinion on the Blair thing and his blinding hypocrisy - he is and always will be in the pockets of the Republican TERRORISTS! (Although we're not really supposed to call them that now - not while they're being measured for their sparkly new haloes.) Don't forget the other Bliar clone lurking in the wings - the WebCameron fella!
Dave O & Lotus - The "referendum" was the vote held in Northern Ireland and the Republic in May 1998 about acceptance of the Good Friday Agreement. The GFA and the poll result did ostensibly guarantee British Sovereignty in NI.
Dave O - Hold fire on the blame game until you see the results of the Republic of Ireland inquiry into fairly obvious Garda/IRA collusion. Should make interesting reading if Bertie Ahern doesn't have it doctored first (with a little encouragement from Lord Bliar of al-Basra).

There was agreement from the Nationalist side that majority rule would decide the future of the province as far back as the Sunningdale Agreement before the recent troubles even started. The troubles started out of unfair treatment of the minority population. It has taken until now to re-affirm Sunningdale in the Good Friday Agreement. What a waste of time to get to the same place. the peace that enjoyed there now could have been 30 years further on by now but for bloody minded idiots on both sides. In an autonomous democracy the North will eventually vote itself back into union with the Republic. It is an innevitability of numbers my friend

I dn't wish to try and address your "question" as increasingly people pose statements and then choose the one closest to their thinking and say "couldn't agree more mate" but I do wish to note that your chosen picture gives awayy a great deal about you and your thinking. It is not ironic, it is not a "joke" it is the deliberate use of an inflamatory symbol to show your views that are extraordinarily right wing.
What is also worrying is the num ber of people on here saying "agree with you mate but advise change the pic" is that a little like the BNP not wanting to be SEEN as a facist party...in other words your politics are suspect but dont let anyone see how blatantly suspect they are. Shame on anyone for supporting bigotry, hatred and the use of this symbol of genocide.
BTW Gibraltar that attachment of rock that sits geographically attached to Spain...ummm just thinking but isn't that georgaphical attachment a good claim that it bleongs to Spanish terrirtory rather than as a hang over of Empire days and leather hide Brits lounging in the sun? Just a thought...

What referendum? Talking out of your @rse again nazi? Have you read about Nuala O'Loan's report in the news lately? Probably not, but have a look, it makes interesting reading, British police, at the highest levels, actively involved in the murder of Catholics in NI as recently as 2002. I do not support the IRA but there have been disgusting acts of murder and violence from both the IRA and British Unionist terrorist groups as well, don't forget that.

Tony Blair is an eloquent talker...but that's all he is. He is a bluffer. He has no 'balls'' and while he will send MEN to their deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan he won't even consider the problem in Northern Ireland as long as its quiet. The homeland problems that are arising fast... like Islam and the NHS etc., are ignored in favour of a holiday while Britain burns. He is doing the only right thing he has done since coming to Office and thats pis*ing off before he's pushed. What have we got left?!! GORDON BROWN!!!!!!!?? Look forward the clone folks.!!

So you think it was better for the general public living in Norther Ireland the way it was a few years ago. Things have moved on, there have been many changes from both sides in the last few years, and if the outcome is the general public can move about their country in more freedom without fear then I am all for it. Like all disagreements their were faults on both sides, and compromise is sometimes the only way forward

I understand your concern about the situation in Northern Ireland. However, Gibraltar is a different case altogether. If the Spics want it, they can have it. It's a waste of resources defending it. We no longer require keeping such a close eye on the route to and from the Med. It's a useless lump of limestone, and those barbary apes stink. It brings in zip revenue, only good if you happen to be holidaying nearby in Spain and you can nip across and smuggle back some cheap fags and booze. Now, if you got cheap fags and booze in NI, maybe more people would be interested.

The real shame is that the Royalists have also behaved abominably, so much so that most people in the UK would disown the Province of NI and gladly let you live as part of the South.
You really have too great a sense of of your own importance to the UK. Your stubbornness and long time persecution of the minorities amongst you has visited this on you. Many of us here think you have nothing but yourselves to blame.
