Speaking American.
If you're American, do you feel you're speaking English or American.
I have heard all kinds of ideas before on this.

I just hear some Americans say they're speaking American, that's all. I just wondered ... I'm not having a dig :-(

It is English. Just like any other language however, it has taken on it's own quirks.

Speaking American is Speaking American Indian language, what Americans now speak is a messed up type of English.

No your speaking English your just adding a flavor of the country. Canadians speak certain way saying different things and americans and english do the same.

The American language doesn't exist because, for one thing, America has no official language. But the real reason is that America's dialog in relation to England's is more of a dialect or jargon if anything. Although, you technically wouldn't be able to compare them like that, because England has an official language.

English is English, but because we Americans don't have that English accent and because we tend to have different slang, I guess that's more of the American English.

In a way.In America there are many words and phrases that have been changed over time.I still feel we're speaking English though.

English, american is north america, central, and south. All of which speak different langauges.

I am not an American but there is a slight difference in some words like Colour beomes Color & Saviour here becomes Savior there etc.!!
