Depending on the position you're applying for, yes they can. They can request your high school transcripts to prove that you graduated. Some jobs require a high school diploma.

an employer can verify all he or she wants. school districts differ greatly in how the require a request for verification be made and most employers may go so far as to call, but they are unlikely to got through the written request.

Dear Anupa, It seems that you submit fraud or fake graduate documents.
As employer he has full right to check your educational qualification. And if he find fake or fraud he can make FIR against you to save others.

Only if you give them permission,but that is usually the caveat if you dont then you are automatically disquallified from consideration for the job. I would like to know how reference checkers mange to obtain academic information is there a central database.
