As long as we continue to have the kind of representative government that we have lobbyists are inevitable. The check and balance to our system is supposed to be the ballot box. If we have a government official that is obviously influenced more by the money and personal gain for himself than by doing the will of the people , then he needs to be removed. The same with judges that seek to make new law instead of interpretting what is already in the books. The only other soloution would be to totally take all the money out of politics and make it purely a volunteer position, where the representatives were unpaid and had a maximum term of 4 years. Also having an oversight committee made up of people other than legislators to enforce the rules. Now its definitely the fox guarding the hen house. It never cease to amaze me that as diverse and talented as America is that we continue to put back in the same tired old retreads that have no national interests but their own. I can understand putting in the wrong guy maybe for 1 term but to do it over and over again. Why are we surprised when we get lousy law and results from our Congress , when we ourselves don't seem to care about their personal behaviors. Ok he's a drunk, pervert or liar but darned if he did'nt get us some federal money . Yee Haw. As long as He who has the gold makes the rules applies, it will always be business as usual for the Congress of the Good Ol US of A. I'm not advocating any particular course of action, but a little revoloution can be a healthy thing. God Bless the Founding Fathers of our Nation. They knew what it would take to keep America free and the Constitution was the result of their knowledge. If the people who swear to uphold it would only do it, there is truly nothing that we would take a back seat to anyone in the world. Dam# felt good to ramble for awhile , thanks for the chance.

Fund all election campaigns publicly so as to cut the influence of lobby money. This would also put all people running for public office on an even playing field.

As it works now, strong lobbies such as AIPAC will heavily fund 2 presidential candidates giving we the people the "choice" between AIPAC's agenda and AIPAC's agenda.

It's just a part of the process, there are lobbyists who work to get things in YOUR favor as well. There is nothing inherently evil about lobbying. It's pluralism.
