Your credit score, your SAT score, or your IQ are examples of information goods. As goods, they can also be sold on the market. A lender, for example, is willlng to pay a credit agency to learn your credit score before they give you a loan. Consumer Reports also is providing consumers with information that can be sold and then consumed.

There is an important difference between information goods and other goods. Take an apple versus your SAT score as an example. Potentially millions of colleges can buy and use your SAT score, while only one person can consume the apple!
