I was diagnosed with depression too and didn't tell my friends for a long time. Some still don't know. I was embarassed. Maybe, just listern to her when she wants to talk, you do not have to say anything. Just tell her you will be there for her if she needs you. Good luck and you sound like a good friend.

I would try not to act like a big deal. I know that it is, but I'm sure your friend wants to keep your friendship the same. By telling you this it means she really trusts you and knows you will be there for her. LET HER KNOW that your always here to help, but keep on acting like you always have (&& don't tell anyone else)
***Remember she is probably on medication so it won't be a huge problem. If she ever does seem sad just take her out for icecream and then go to the mall.

Best of Luck!!!

Don't make a big deal about it. It happens to many people. Just treat her the same as you always have, that is as long as you have always been nice. People say allot of hurtful things in an attempt to help. If she wants to talk about it listen, but don't act like it is a big deal, it could make her feel worse.

As her friend, just let her know that you are there for her. It's better to keep it simple. Don't act any different than before you found out. By being a good friend and letting her know that you're there, she'll be able to open up to you when she's ready.

Everything needs a label nowadays so they can sell you a drug to fix it. I think depression often comes by having a lot of time to think about what your pboblems are. For your part, try to cheer her up.

Tell her you are there for her and ask her to talk to you about things when she feels the need. Tell her you care about her and only want good things for her. She will appreciate that.

Show her beautiful things, flowers, little animals, show that through the bad there is good in this world. Show her that things can improve and that you will help her.

oh my god! call the friend police! she's obviously not a good friend if she doesn't tell you EVERYTHING!
I'm kidding. It doesn't matter. All you need to do is be her friend, and be there for her. That's what being a friend is all about.

Ask her if she is getting professional help and assure her you are there if/when she needs you. Thats about the best you can do.

there you is really nothing to say except to talk to her normally, like what you guys normally talk about and to reassure her from time to time. there is nothing to feel guilty about, it happens.
