Primer on wars:

World Wars (so far only 2): by definition involves at least two super-powers in opposite camps, with at least most of the countries in the world involved.

Cold War; from end of 1945 to fall of the Soviet Union in 1989. The two super-powers didn't fire a direct shot at each other, but did some posturing, brinksmanship, sabre rattling and fighting each via proxy wars (ie, Korea and Vietnam).

Regional wars: usually involving a rump state on one or both sides, the best example being the Yon Kippur War (1973), Gulf Wars, Soviets vs. Afaganistan, etc.

Proxy Wars: when the two super-powers fight each thru other countries...the best examples being Korea and Vietnam. Proxy wars are preferable to direct confrontations due to the global suicidal nature of the next world war.

WORLD AT WAR:
At any given time in the world, there are at least 40 wars (+ or -), but none are at the level of World War, just relegated to the heap of regional & proxy wars between rump and rogue states.

World War 2 was an actual declaration of war by the allies (Britain, France, USA, Canada, Australia) against the axis powers (Germany, Italy). Russia began as axis and switched sides in 1941. WW2 ended in 1945 when the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan twice. Hundreds of thousands of people died throughout this war.

the cold war was more like undeclared hositilies between the United States and Russia (USSR). It began in the 1950's and lasted until the 1980's. Although the two countries never fought, they pointed their weapons at each other. It was a time when both countries constantly worried that the other side would attack. The problem is, both sides knew that the attack would consist of nuclear weapons. It was during this time that the worry over nuclear winter came into being. Thankfully, USSR dissolved and the cold war ended with the tearing down of the Berlin Wall.

There are historians that suggest viewing the Great War, the Second World War, the Cold War, the Spanish Civil War, etc as one continuous state of civil war in Western Society much in the same fashion that we view the the War of the Roses in England, the Hundred Years War in France, or the Thirty Years War in Central Europe as a single historical phenonomenon

That said, most others regard the Cold War as a product of World War II and not necessarily a contiguous part.

The cold war came after WW2 as a result of the strength of nations which were relatively unscathed by WW2, Russia and the US. The other great nations were heavily damaged by WW2.

So I don't think it would be correct to think of the cold war as a type of continuation of WW2. WW2 was a hot war, with the "axis and allies". The cold war was primarily a contest of economic/military/policical power (and military arms/buildup, without use) between the US and Russia. It never got hot, it was more about flexing muscles and posturing.

They're two very differnent events, WWII, took place proir to the Cold War. WWII main objective was to eliminate Nazi Germany, Facist Italy and Military Japan. The Cold War was between Communism and Capitalism(Communism nor Capitalism is wrong, both are excellent systems of commerce) But it was a "cold" war because there were no shots or weapons fired.

The cold war was a war where no one fought with weapons or bombs, and no one died because of another country. The cold war was basically when both countries were talking bad about the other one and ruiniing their reputation. Like middle school with all the countries.
World war 2, people fought with weapons and people died. It was a completely different issue as well.

No they are not. WWII was well over with before the Cold War with Russia even started. The Cold War was more or less a war of words, so to speak.

no WW2 was to fight Nazi Germany because Hitler was trying to take over all of Europe. The Cold war came shortly after that and we were aginst russia. which it had no fighting but was one of the scariest things the whole world had ever seen... mostly because 2 countries had Nuclear Weapons and were NOT afraid to use them aginst eachother. which is why they werent fired... because if they fired one then the other would fire 10 then the other would fire even more and so on leaving the whole world in rubble
