no, the first movements you do feel, just feel like little gas bubbles so they aren't too noticeable unless you really pay attention, but at about 20 weeks you should start to notice it more and soon you can watch your tummy and see the baby move, it's freaky looking but it's the coolest thing in world to know that there is a little person in there making your tummy do that.

Well I'm 24 weeks pregnant (yesterday to be exact) with my first and didn't start feeling anything till around 20-21 weeks. It was just little flutters, pretty much thought it was gas, but the first UNMISTAKABLE movement came around 22 weeks. You still have a few weeks to go before you feel anything I would say, you may not even realize it at first and mistake it like I did! It's only been the last week(since 23 weeks) that I've felt any regular movement, your still 5 weeks away from that! Relax, I"m sure everything is fine. I was worrying a bit around the time I was as far as you, but before I knew it I could feel my baby moving every day. I've heard a lot that during your first pregnancy, you don't feel anything until later, and I'm a bit overweight too, so that can have an effect as well. Enjoy the peace, because my little one wants to keep kicking my bladder! Ah! Lol.

Nothing has to be wrong. Just because the pregnancy book says you should feel movement at 16-22 weeks doesn't mean it will always fit into that category. Remember, every baby is different. He or She just might still be a little too tiny for you to feel that flutter. At first it feels kind of like you have butterflies or tiny bubbles in your tummy...you may not even recognize it for awhile.

If you have legitimate concerns call your doctor. They can do a doppler to confirm a heartbeat and an ultrasound to put your mind at ease. Having regular appointments with your doctor is really the best way to ensure a healthy baby and that you don't worry too much. Plus, the appointments where you can see and hear your baby are really the best ones. Good luck and Congratulations!

I was about 18 weeks or so when I first felt movement, but it was very faint. They say especially if it's your first it may take longer, sometimes not until 20-23 weeks. Everyone says it feels like fluttering butterflies, but I thought it felt more like gas or like when you feel something moving through your bowels. I think it's harder when you dont know what you are looking for. My sister told me the first time she felt the baby move she was lying on her stomach in bed. Shortly after she told me that, I was laying on my stomach in bed in the morning and I felt the baby moving faintly. Luckly at this point it is still comfortable enough to lay on your stomach, because there is a point where it becomes uncomfortable and even painful. But I think laying on your stomach makes it easier to feel because there is some pressure against the uterus wall, so that even though the movement is so small, you can feel it. I am sure you will be feeling your baby soon. Do not worry, it is still early on.

No nothing is wrong..it is completely normal for a first time mommy to be to not experience the movements until a little later in pregnancy...You prob wont feel any movement until at least 20 weeks, and then it may only be light movement,u wont notice the big kick until around 24-26 weeks....U may have felt little flutters by now but just cant distinguish them from gas or not...they will feel very low in your abdomen and will feel like butterflies or goldfish,i always though it felt like popcorn popping around in my tummy.. if u lay still on your back with no noise and no movement and just try and concentrate u just might feel these little bubbles...try it and see..good luck and congrats!!

Most women dont feel their baby move in till the 22nd week. Its commen to have some movement early around 18 weeks and then to no feel anything till 22 weeks. also if its your 1st pregnancy you may pass the movement of as something else. Also maybe your baby moves at night when your asleep. I hope this has helped. If your really worried speak to your doctor. All pregnancys are different and you need to be sure in your own mind.

Always best to check with your doctor, but on average baby's first movements are felt some time between week 18 and week 22. When I was pregnant, I didn't really know that the baby's movements were just that cause they were pretty subtle and felt kind of like bubbles popping. Over time they got stronger. Also, some babies are kind of active at night when you are asleep so that you might just be sleeping through it.

Again, always best to ask at your next doctor's appointment.

im 18 weeks prego with my 1st also. Ive felt my baby since i was 15 weeks, although at the time i was unsure it was the baby. Youve prolly felt the baby but didnt realize it. I dont find it feels like butterflies or bubbles or popcorn like everyone says so maybe stop looking for these sensations and concentrate on your own self and any kinda feeling you might feel. And if you wanna keep in contact (cuz were both on the same week of pregnancy) it could be fun, check me on msn Punks_in_the_bus@hotmail.com
ggod luck

Depends how long it is that you haven't felt anything.. When that happened to me, I lay down quietly for a while and usually when the baby senses you may be going to sleep it'll start the gymnastics!
Don't leave it too long before getting the all-clear from the Doc though.
Sometimes, when you are tense and worried, the muscles in the abdomen tighten and through this it's difficult to feel slight movements.. (that's what the midwife told me when I went for a check-up for the same thing).

Take care...

You probably have experienced flutters at this point but didn't notice them. First time mommies aren't sure what to look for and mistake these for gas or indigestion. As far as kicking and feeling the baby move, it's not uncommon not to feel these until closer to 24 weeks, so relax and enjoy this peaceful time because soon enough these movements will be so strong it will even become uncomfortable.
