You can give your fish a pea once a week, or just when they are constipated... when they get a long string of poo hanging off them... very unsightly.

It should be a thawed frozen pea or a cooked pea, either way you should remove the hull and squish the pea into tiny bits. Scoop out any uneaten pea after five minutes, just like any other food you give them.

Like everyone else said, only feed the fish peas when they look constipated or they appear to have a swim bladder problem. If they are having swim bladder issues, they will have a hard time swimming towards the bottom of the tank. They'll struggle to stay down and then they'll float back up. That's how you'll know if they need one.

It depends on which type of fish you keep. Obviously, herbivores such as plecos & some cichlids relish the occasional pea. As an alternative, you could feed blanched lettuce, spinach, or in the case of bottom feeders a piece of cucumber which needs to be weighed down with a piece of lead strip. Also, there are commercially produced weights for this purpose.

Peas are only necessary if your fish has a swim bladder problem or if it is constipated. No need to feed all the time. It's like taking vicodine when there is no pain.

once a week to keep them regular. you can also use frozen daphnea which they usually like better. if they are constipated or swimming sideways from swim bladder disease feed them peas. if the water smells it could be ammonia poisoning making them swim sideways so change your water.
