The margin between rich and poor is growing wider each decade. Crime is increasing on both the poor and rich sides, but the poor get caught more often, and white collar crime has a blind eye turned to it. I've personally seen kids living in poverty lashing out more often at kids with money at school. Do you think a class war may be on the way in America? If so, give your reasons why you think so.

Good question!

You're absolutely right, the gap is growing. However, the American population remains so dumbed down, I doubt they'll ever be able to realize what's really happening. We're to busy focusing on outside enemies to pay attention to the threats from within, which are a much more immediate concern than terrorism.

To all those that say that this country is doing just fine, I invite you to take a look at Western European countries, which have a much higher standard of living, There's no reason that the US, the richest country in the world, can't meet the same standards.

And Robert, the first answerer, I'm afraid your wrong. There was a lot of dissent in the 1930's, and the communist party gained momentous popularity. We just don't hear about that much anymore.

For the last 20 years there has been a huge push by the admin to dumb down americas middle class. So in a sense there is a new class war.The reason is that a police state is coming to America and the stupid f***ers can't even see it.

While they're pointing at the supposed enemy abroad. The freedom for what they think they are fighting for is being destroyed from within.

So, class war is actually a war on intelligence.

NO! This is nothing new. I take it you mean an actual war!

My dad grew up in the 1930s depression, when things were really bad. And nobody he knew was talking about 'revolution'. I'm from the 1960s, we thought we were going to have a revolution.

As bad as it may seem to young people today, those two former times were worse! Far worse.

I question the premise of your inquiry. You suggest that class warfare is a new phenomenon. This country was founded on class warfare. First, women (unless they were landowners in the north), blacks, native Americans all were classes excluded from the political and economic benefits of the American dream from its inception. Blacks, and women had to have constitutional amendments just to vote. So the class war has been in existence for a long long time. The question is what are we going to do about it? Don't narrow your thinking that class-ism is exclusively about economics...it transcends into every "ism" you can imagine.

no, i don't. nor do i believe what you said about the margin between rich and poor growing.

it's actually true that the poor are better off now than they ever were, and that more people these days make more money. yeah there are people who struggle, i'm not saying there isn't. i'm saying i know plenty of "poor" people in the projects who have stuff i never had when i was little, when we were REALLY poor.

i read the other day that there are only about 775,000 homeless in america. i know that's alot of people, but out of 300 million? not many at all. we need to help those people, yes, but i doubt seriously there's gonna be some kinda "class" war.

it's far more likely there'll be a war between those who want to keep their own money and those who want to take others' money to pass out to other people........

It is nothing new. As the gap between rich and poor grows and as the middle class dwindles, it is going to get worse. It is not on the way it is here and has been for a long time.

No I don't think its going to be class war, but race war is possible if we don't do something about our southern border.
