We marched right out of class at my high school in '68, they threatened us and flunked a few of the ringleaders, like me. We marched through the center of town, we marched in Washington and burned our draft cards, they beat us and we marched to prison, but it was worth every minute thinking that if we could end that insane war, even if only one day sooner, it could save an American soldier, or a Vietnamese. I think we did our job as patriots to protest our governments stupidity. It isn't nearly the same now, a few protests I've been to, there isn't the same passion, or caring. When people say it was the draft, I don't believe that, today there are National Guards and Reserves being put in situations that no soldier should be placed in, a civil war where both sides hate us. We were going to change the world, we stopped LBJ; and Robert Kennedy would have been President, if they hadn't killed him, to end up with Nixon was the beginning of the end for America. No one 'wins' in war, we're all losers, and the only ones who really suffer are the soldiers and their families, everyday is another chance to stop this insanity, I hope its soon.

Yes, there are less youth marching today than in the 60's. Back then it was a be in to just attend the demonstrations today there is less understanding of the situation. Then the young people could be drafted. Today they volunteer so you can see that there was a reason to demonstrate not to go where they do not want to go.

yes because a lot of young people focus on there lives at hand and not about the rest of the world. I mean I even hate to even listen to the news these days I am 28 years old it's all bad & disturbing news. I think if bush was to conduct a draft you would see alot more younger demostraters. I will continue to hate bush with a passion nothing will change my mind what he made this country today is a disgrace and hopefully the next president can fix all his mistakes and lies.

Yes...for one there was a draft back in the 60's, so the war affected a greater range of people directly than it does now. Also more people now doubt that a protest will have any effect on the government's decisions.

i find it interesting that noone has pointed out that young people today have seen the worst terrorist attack on us thus far: 9-11.
i can't tell you how many times i've read about soldiers who've said they've joined as a direct result of 9-11. these are soldiers who are about 20-25 years old, btw. i myself have two cousins, one 18, one about 21, who joined the Navy. i think much older people who are against this war sometimes underestimate the power of that horror. it definitely changed me, and i was 25 when it happened.
so yes, i think there aren't as many young people protesting the war, for the simple fact that a lot of young people, contrary to what we may think, remember that horror.

Yes because the average American between the age of 30 and 50 rememeber the war in Vietnam and how it impacted families and our country!
Thankfully the Middle Class and Middle Aged average American will not sit Idly by and let corruption breed!
This is just the tip of the iceberg! It's just getting rolling now!
Hang on! Power of the people has yet to be seen!!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
My country 'tis of thee
Sweet land of Liberty
Of thee I sing
Land where my father's died
Land of the pilgrims' pride
From every Mountainside
Let Freedom Ring!!

Sure is. and with the political attacks that war-protestors face by clever conservatives it is no doubt why. Being called a traitor and threatened with criminal prosecution kinda makes most people think twice. There is all the small problem of GWB being the decider ;)
