It's possible it's broken and you could go to the doctor to be sure. Unless it's at a right angle or grossly misshapen, they probably won't do much other than possible tape it to the toe next to it for support (called "buddy taping") If it's your big toe, then maybe they can do more. I've broken numerous toes and you just have to wait for them to heal.

Ice might help or like Jim said Epsom salts. I have broke several toes and they hurt for a while. I don't know why they can't do any thing for them. You may also go to the drug store and get some drawing salve-if you use it on your toe put a lot on and just bandage it up-with gauze and tape- and wear a sock and bedroom shoes. It is black and looks like tar but it works great. Tell your dad to just get two tubes-it is great to draw out infection or splinters. Change it about twice a day. Leave it on at bedtime. Hope your toe feels better soon. Ask your dad to get these things for you.

A Dr. can do almost nothing for a broken toe. You can wrap tape around it at home to keep it straight.
I have broken two, one on each foot and learned the first time that there is very little they can do. Put Ice on it and try to stay off of it for a day or two.

it sounds like it could be broken, but there is no use in going to the doctor because they can't do anything for broken toes.

Usually with fractures there's also swelling. Go ahead and play it safe. Let your doctor have a look at it and try to stay off of it in the meantime.

yes, you should go to the doctor. If it is broken and heals wrong it may take more to fix it than now
