I'm moving out of state so I need to rent a pick up or SUV to tow a trailer.

Most rental companies do not allow you to tow with their vehicles. If you read the rental agreement, there is a clause that prohibits towing! Even the truck rental companies forbid towing anything but their own trailers!!!

You do not say if you own a trailer that you are trying to move, or if you are going to rent a trailer. If you are looking to move and rent a vehicle and trailer, you may be better off renting a medium size truck (10-15 ft box) and driving it. Check will the truck rental companies about cost and availability.

Most rental trucks are now automatic, and they are actually easier to drive than an SUV / trailer combination!

Many rental places don't like people towing trailers with their rental vehicles (it puts a LOT of strain on them). I've not seen a tow hitch on rental vehicles for that resaon.

You can rent the SUV, buy a hitch at U-Haul and install it, tow the trailer, and then remove the tow hitch.

Places that rent trucks for moving usually only rent smaller truck for in-town moving. For out of town moving (usually one-way moves), they rent 10 - 26 foot trucks.

I think enterprise rents pick-up trucks.

I dont know for sure, but they might have hitches.

Just remember that the towing weight INCLUDES weight already inside the car! So with you inside, you have to subtract 120 from the 5000 pound towing capability listed :)
