does the playstation 1 memory card work in the playstation 2?

It does... but only for PS1 games. I'm playing Final Fantasy Chronicles (PS1) on my PS2 right now. I'm using the PS1 memory card to save it on.

Only PS2 memory cards will work with PS2 games.
