What if you start taking your birth control about a week and a half before your period should start. Is that using it incorrectly? Or is that okay?

If you start it at random, and then wait a week for it to work - would that be okay? I couldn't understand the directions. Some said to start the first day of your period the other say any day. I'm just seeing if anyone has started it at random and if it was alright

I asked my pharmacist about this. He said the Sunday start is mostly just so you remember when you started and where you are in your pack. You can start at random, but if you do- use alternate birth control for 1 week. With your cycle, you could be at a fertile time and the full effects won't take place for 7 days. If you start the Sunday after your period, or the first day of your period- you are at safe spot in your cycle, so it takes effect immediately.

You are supposed to start a new pack of pills the sunday after your period starts. (if it starts on a sunday, take it that day). About a year ago i went off the pill, and then decided that i didn't really want to be off it. I took it at a random time, and my period came about 10 days after i had started the pill pack. Once my period ended i started another pack that sunday and I've been fine ever since. I hope this helps!

Start it the first Sunday AFTER your period ends.

You should be talking to the person who prescribed the birth control to you, as you see you have conflicting answers.

you should tak it about 2 weeks after or before period, so it is a bit in the middly of your menstrual cycle. However, you can also ask your pharmasist, since you might have some health problems that might need consultance.

I dont think it will matter. I was on it for awhile and did not take it according to my cycle. It made me too moody though so I had to quit.
