First if u want to get ur washing out, u have to gain access to the waste hose, so that part is simple depending where ur machine is situated. U need a plastic basin put it on the floor, take the waste pipe out of the drain pipe and keep the pipe low and let the water freely empty into the basin, u may have 2 repeat a few times as ur basin fills. If ur pipe from ur machine is held by a clip half way up the machine u have to unscrew it to allow the hose to lay low at floor level. Once it is empty the machines sensors know its empty and u will be able to open the door, there may be a delay. It could be the pump or a blockage somewhere, check ur machines filter. If there is a blockage after clearing the filter etc the machine should work. Did ur pump start up? if after clearing the b lockage then it may be the pump or even the impellor on the pump has come off or broken. This is just a few things that it could be, but it usually is one of them.

Hi Turn off the machine and then open the hatch at the bottom. This is where the filter is. Remove it carefully and remove any gunk from it. In all probability there is a coin stuck in the outlet from the filter to the drain and this takes the water away.
IF the machine is FULL of water you will have to take all your time to open the filter slowly and let the water fall into a shallow tray, lift it up and pour it into the sink. Your fingers will 'dry' because the limescale will try to remove moisture for your hands.
Sorry to sound nerdy but I'm a fixer.

If its a Hotpoint, earlier model. it probably the pecker unit attached on the motor that's stopping you opening the door, providing you've got all the water out. Any modern front loading washer has a safety pressure system on it that stops the door from being opened if water is in the machine, Your problem is more likely that the filter/trap is blocked, or the pump it's self has packed up. If you are not confident enough to tackle the job, you should get a qualified engineer in to repair it.

some thing similar happened to me.
set the washing machine to drain and do this until the water runs away (if possible) or get a bowl and put it under the filter as it is the filter that is poss blocked(i found £1.26 gold bracelet and half a ripped sock) after i had cleared the filter the machine was working again

Good luck lets us know how u got on

The pump motor has probably failed in some way. The belt may have come off or broken. You'll need to get someone out to fix it I’m afraid.
If you don't mind getting your feet wet, if you isolate the power you should then be able to open the door.

Is it a front loader? Your pump is broken and you'll have to have a technician out to have a look at it. It'll be messy too so have towels ready.

Have you checked the filter? It may be clogged up. Put a bowl underneath and try, hope this helps.

this sounds a really daft question to ask you but, have you tried running the drain/empty (or something similar) program? if you have children check they haven't unpluged the machine or something!!
