When I'm looking for B&B's around the country, I tend to use Smooth Hounds Systems, which is an intenet diretcory of guesthouses and B&B's around the UK. Visit their website http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/ and search for guesthouses in the town/city you are visiting. You may wish to use a map to figure out the location of the B&B. There are quite a few sites that provide maps. I tend to use multimap http://www.multimap.com/ and a lot of people also seem to use streetmap http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ . Several of guesthouses listed on Smooth Hounds will have email, and I find emailing the guesthouses is far more convenient than by phone (although do not pass financial info such as credit cards numbers across email).
