Is it because he's Republican?

Why aren't people screaming about the lack of response from the Mayor of New Orleans (a Democrat) and the Governor of Louisiana (also a Democrat)? Or did I just answer my own question?

It's because Bush sticks up for America in both national security (no appeasement for terrorists) and in the economy (tax cuts, houses, and safe cars-SUV's- for everyone). Liberals HATE a man who sticks up for the values that made the United States great, and they will smear him every chance they get-even if it means blaming him for something that he had NOTHING to do with like Katrina!

Good question. Especially in light of he fact the Mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of Louisiana are both Democrats. When 19 Islamic terrorists used our own aircraft to attack us, the Mayor then (Republican Mayor) Rudy Giuliani took charge and got things done. He wasn't pandering to the press or crying for he Government to save us all, he was busy working. Funny how that works -- ya' know??

I'm personally sick of hearing about Katrina, Honestly enough's enough. They shouldn't be blaming the president, I've never seen a any other national disaster happen in this country were the president had to hold the local governments hand the whole way threw it. The Mayor of New Orleans was more concerned about keeping his city open the hours before Katrina hit, than protecting his own citizens. Bush was called a Racist because the city is primarily black, well the surrounding areas that are primarily white took matters in there own hands and were hit just as hard as New Orleans, but you don't see people running to their rescue (the media) and if Bush is racist what would the Mayor be, he's the one who delayed the buses from picking his own citizens up which resulted in people being abandoned there and forced to the super dome. It's a bunch of Crap!

The blame is placed on the feds (who have sent $40 Billion down here since the storm) because the local leaders are in over their heads. The latest tirade was our Governor whining that Mississippi got more than we did. Real leadership.

From what I read above me, President Bush is responsible for the pot holes, the busses running on time in the streets and garbage pick ups in the city of New Orleans. Just WHAT is the Mayor and the Governess of Louisiana responsible for???

As a mayor, I have the authority to command police and fire forces. Were those adequate to address the aftermath of Katrina? No, of course not. As the governor, I can command the national guard in my state. Was a single state's national guard enough to address the aftermath of Katrina? It was a start, but still the answer is no.

Who has the power and authority to address large scale natural disasters, like Katrina? I think it could be the federal government. But instead of FEMA, which was responsible for reacting to the situation, following some logical course of action, they were too busy buying mobile homes no one could use, while the agency's director was worried about how he looked on television.

Because the local and state leadership is democrats and they failed in their responsibility to protect their own citizens. They push blame to take the guilt of the deaths off of their hands. Bottom line is Nagin and Blanco are the real failures.

One would have to assume that the president thinks they're doing a good job......I mean, for the president to file it under "forget it".....ya' know?

I mean, get real. This city belongs to Bush...it's an American city...and he just lets it sit there. I don't give a rats if the Democrat leaders have a stick up their butts, George needs to get this AMERICAN CITY back on its feet!
RIDICULOUS!

Because FEMA had the resources and did nothing, when the Mayor and Governor asked for assistance. On the contrary, Bush said the Director of FEMA, an unqualified idiot, was doing "a heckuva job".
