okay so i have been studying history.

and i have a quick question that is left to be unanswered.

President Nixon was "almost impeached".. what was the nature of his alledged wrongdoing.

and how did he escape it?

It was not that he coordinated watergate, but that he attempted to cover it up.

He resigned.

President Nixon allegedly ordered the break-in at the Watergate Hotel to steal election strategy information of the Democratic party prior to the 1972 Presidential Election. There was a massive investigation, Senate Judiciary committees, and congressional hearings. In August, 1974, Richard Nixon resigned the Presidency, and then Vice President Ford took the office of President. One month later, President Ford granted Nixon a full pardon for any offenses against the U.S. for the period from July 1969 - August 1974, which caused the cessation of any further investigation, and precluded any legal action, including impeachment, of the former president. Please note that impeachment is truly only the indictment or formalization of charges, not removal from office. Only two presidents have been impeached, Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton. None have been removed from office.

Well he was apart of Watergate--the scandal where Nixon hired ppl. to bug the democratic party's conversations, etc.--
He was almost impeached but he resigned before he was. And Gerald Ford replaced him and gave him a full pardon.

he illegally wiretapped and then covered it up. He stepped down to avoid impeachment hearings. Then Ford pardoned him so no details would ever come out,. Now we have the same group doing it again!
