I was working in a call center in a sales position. I was also in psychotherapy to treat mental illness. A job counselor told me that my best work prospects would be to continue in telemarketing but given my medical condition he advised me to go for disability. I asked my psychotherapist about getting a disability pension and he told me he wanted me to work. After I was no longer in his care, I went ahead and applied for disability and I was approved quickly for it. What do you make of my story?

Few realize it .. but working in a call center is a crazy making process.

I have not worked IN a call center, but I have supported 3 different ones. I know several people who years later wake up in a cold sweat from a nightmare of phones ringing. Now that I have thought about it, I have worken up from a nightmare or two.

"work" . what is work?..

Now that you have disability .. you must do something. Good work can be very rewarding. Bad work is a pita. (pain in the a.. )

You now have a great gift to improve your body mind and soul. find a purpose. repair damage.

Perhaps you can do some lite volunteer work at something. church or secular. Perhaps you can get some education. And you may be able to do some under the table work for pure cash.

Also working on the body can help the brain. I know .. but don't often do.

Often the martial arts like aikido or non martial things like yoga or tai chi are very rewarding and help unscramble one's brain. There is much evidence of this.

They also get you out and about and keep from being a couch potato. Staying alone alot or doing nothing can make worse mental illness or even body illnesses. This happened to my mom and I would rather it not happen to you. There was a funny Dilbert cartoon along that lines .. being along is good, but being alone too long is not.

Since you do sound boarderline ..

Use this gift now to straighen out your life and then when and if you feel ready you can then make the jump back into employement.

Is there any kind of minor work that you can do "under the table" that will make you content, and make you feel like you're still contributing to the greater good? Repair work of some sort? Dog walking even? I say go on disability if it's needed, but make sure that you're doing something useful with your time at home. Even a hobby or a class can keep your mind from brewing on its problems. If you go on disability, FIND something that feeds your spirit, makes use of your hands and mind...whether you get paid for it or not. Volunteer even for a local cause! I think the key to staying home... whether you're depressed or not, is to STAY ACTIVE. Get on a great workout/ sleep schedule. Eat well. Meditate/ pray. Remain a contributing member of society. Limit your TV time (IT's SO negative these days!) The same advice can be given to anyone. Depressed or not! I know so many stay-at-home parents who feel "worthless" b/c they're not feeding their spirits. BEST of luck to you. PEACE.

Get a job doing something you are comfortable doing, anything. Even if you are working in an unpaid position (volunteering) to keep you busy and happy and it blossoms into a paid position - even better. Sitting at home collecting a check is not productive or healthy. Many organizations are looking for assistance for only a few hours a week. Good luck and hope you're better soon!

I always theory to procure a incapacity pension because you may want to no longer artwork adequate to get income at your previous aspect. i look at Ron Paul's record (doesn't even take area interior the worthwhile congressional pension application, not in any respect voted for a Congressional pay strengthen -even previously they were made 'computerized', returns area of his budget to the treasury each year, grew to change into down an entire scholarship his son had received because he might want to pay for training, to leave it for someone who mandatory it, grew to change into down matching money for his marketing campaign as 'stolen money') and that i really do ask your self why the GOP has McCain as a candidate. I understand Obama in uncomplicated words paid off his decrease than marketplace scholar loans very last year, yet you would anticipate that variety of element from an entitlement centred Dem. no longer a lot from a principled Republican. Is Ron Paul truly the in uncomplicated words one left? How depressing.

I'm on SSI myself. I've always believed it's best to work if you can, if not, that's what disability is for.
